The Lincoln Log, a day-by-day feature that explains what Abraham Lincoln wrote, said or did on that date in history, is now being offered free of charge to all daily and weekly newspapers in the United States. The Lincoln Log is a joint venture between the Illinois Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, The Papers of Abraham Lincoln and the Illinois Press Association.
Each entry has been compiled and edited by The Papers of Abraham Lincoln, a project of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency that is scanning every document written to or by Abraham Lincoln during his lifetime. The Lincoln Log began January 1, 2008 and will run through December 31, 2009, making approximately 730 unique entries available for newspaper readers. The time frame coincides with the nation's observance of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial, with events scheduled over the next two years in many communities.
