Requirements for Exhibit Venues

All venues chosen for the exhibition are required to:

  • Sponsor a minimum of two public programs during the four-week course of the exhibition.
  • Sponsor an opening event for the exhibition (may be combined with a required program).
  • Demonstrate availability of sufficient contiguous floor space to display the exhibition: minimum of 450 square feet plus 80 square feet of storage space for shipping crates.
  • Demonstrate availability of accessible electrical power: two 120v, 20amp circuits
  • Demonstrate appropriate security for the exhibit, i.e. monitoring of the exhibit at least every half-hour during peak times, and every hour at less busy times.
  • Provide insurance waiver covering damage to the exhibition as well as liability coverage for the ALPLM
  • Charge no fees beyond normal admission charges to the institution for viewing the exhibit.
  • Conduct an audience survey to evaluate the exhibition visitor’s experience
  • Provide required reports, including an exhibit condition report and a final report, to ALPLM for submission to the National Endowment for the Humanities.
